Problem
Founded by Bain & Company, Aura was created to revolutionize the way companies understand the global labor market, providing comprehensive workforce insights for businesses, both private and public. Aura users are looking for insightful metrics and industry trends that can help them take better business and investment decisions, so they need the ability to create queries and filter substantial amounts of data. My job was to create this process less painful and an overall better experience.
Solution
When I joined the project I did an audit to the platform and concluded it was lacking consistency, so fortunately I was able to convince stakeholders that investing more time in the early stage building a design system would save several hours and unnecessary effort further ahead. After setting up the foundations and essential components, it became easier and faster to create POCs for a quicker decision making process and then build hi-fidelity designs.
Working closely with Aura team, we managed to have recurrent meetings with their customers and got to understand what the crucial necessities were. Creating queries, users are able to extract a wide variety of data from the industry players that is easily readable and filterable, allowing users to customize its visualisation and export/share reports.
Challenges
Managing extensive volumes of data presents constant challenges, yet it becomes truly exhilarating when we successfully address user issues. The primary hurdle in this project lay in comprehending the requirements of business analysts and meeting their diverse needs. A frequently encountered demand was for customization, prompting us to develop a platform that seamlessly combines user-friendliness with high levels of adaptability. Striking a balance involved exhaustive efforts to eliminate redundant options and distractions, ensuring each user accesses a tailored platform.
